Adderall: Facts and tips you should and need to know
Adderall might be what you are looking for to fight that feeling of tiredness that most folks living with multiple sclerosis (MS) wakes up with every day .
Most people will not – or should I say, cannot - really understand what it means to constantly be asking yourself: why am I so tired? It doesn’t matter how many hours you slept the night before. Any neurologist will tell you that it is part of having MS, it comes with the territory and is called MS fatigue or lassitude
You should know that this drug is an amphetamine and dextroamphetamine which means that it is a central nervous system stimulant. It affects chemicals in your brain and nerves that contribute to hyperactivity and impulse control. This drug was first introduced by Shire Pharmaceuticals in 1996 in the form of a multi-dose, instant release (IR) tablet derived from the original formula of the weight management drug Obetrol. In 2001 Shire Pharmaceuticals introduced an extended release (XR) version of the ingredients in the original instant release (IR) formula n several different dosages The medication is for the most part used to treat narcolepsy and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). When it comes to treating that constant feeling of exhaustion or what you and I called MS fatigue Adderall has been reported to: HELP USERS BY INCREASING - Alertness
- Libido
- Concentration and overall cognitive performance
HELP USERS BY DECREASING You should follow your doctor’s instructions to the letter when using this medication. Normally you will be starting at a low dosage and then your doctor will slowly increase it until you start feeling the difference. That was the case with me and from 10mg a day I ended up taking 30mg in an extended release (XR) pill every day. A piece of advice: Do not take this drug late in the day. It can, and probably will, make it difficult to fall sleep (Insomnia) Also, if you start taking it with your breakfast – like I do – avoid drinking fruit juices or taking vitamin C at the same time you take the medicine. These can make your body absorb less of the medicine therefore lessening it’s benefits.
